Next door to Ausone, Angelus, Valandraud and Monbousquet, the Ballande family who made their fortune in mining have restructured their vineyard - analysing soils and replanting over 10 hectares and their winery. They now age the wines in hydro heated barrels in order to find balance in the wines and not toast the flavour.
Ruby red color, the nose is intense and offers notes of fruit black, blackcurrant and blackberry, with touches of spices, notably licorice and pepper. The palate is frank, delicious and focuses on red fruits, such as cherry and black fruits. The tannins are firm with a very silky finish. Decant 1-2 hours before tasting and enjoy with barbecued meats.
